:: birth week :: beauty and strength … baby a’s birth story

oh friends.

welcome back for the wednesday edition of birth week …

i’m seriously over the moon excited to share this story with you … this was one of my very first birth stories that i was given the honor of capturing … a first little baby … an oh-so-very loved little one …

15 lowresolution DONOTPRINT

i cannot even believe that she’s one.  already!  one!

and on her birthday … i received the loveliest note from her mama with a sweet little photo of their girl … a year later.

and it’s funny … because i feel like i capture these birth stories and fall head over heels in love with each and every family … and they move into the craziness that is newborn-ness and i start falling head over heels in love with my next family …

and sometimes i have a family that wants me to capture so many more of their life’s milestones for them … and sometimes i don’t.  which is still ok … because  i realize that i was a person so lucky to be in that moment with them … a moment that can never be replaced or redone.  even if they hire me to photograph nineteen births!  it will never be that birth again.

and this mama gave me permission to share many of their images that i’ve never shared before, and i’m so excited to share them with you.

enjoy …

and now for the familiar sounding script that i absolutely copied and pasted from yesterday’s post (because we spent way.too.much.time. at the zoo today and then scrambled to get to swim team and eat dinner and go to bed.  GAH.  KIDS.)  to re-explain ::birth week:: to all of our new friends!

it’s funny how things tumble into place amongst friends. i’m so very lucky to be able to count megan (megan crown photography) and brooke (peace love babies) as my friends.  they are some of the fellow birth photographers locally that i have grown to love and appreciate in this crazy world of birth photography.  it’s incredibly wonderful to have people that understand what being on call is like and who appreciate late night texts of waters breaking and making plans that often are dependent upon moms in labor.  and they make me laugh and giggle uncontrollably.

so … when we were given the opportunity to photograph an upcoming event that is coming to minneapolis … the birth without fear meet up … we all jumped at the chance!  and through crazy late night discussions …  we decided that we should celebrate with a giveaway!  or two.  or three …  :)

(ok.  to make it fair … megan came up with the fabulous idea and brooke and i just thought it was awesome.  but i like to think that we come up with some original ideas that are awesome too.  maybe?)

each of us are giving away two single tickets to the BWF meet up in minneapolis (amongst a few other surprises) … AND we would love to have you enter by following us along on this :: birth week :: adventure!

our :: birth week :: will be filled to the brim with birth stories and photographs celebrating the beautiful births that we have captured on camera!

you can gain additional entries for the giveaways by heading to the blogs this week and following the directions to enter!
